Over the past year, we’ve been part of a team planting a church in our neighborhood, Mid-City Los Angeles. I can’t tell you how happy I was this past Easter when Bren got to help baptize four people into the Kingdom! It made me realize that THIS is what our lives are all about. The Mid-City Vineyard is only a few months old but we’ve already seen so many lives touched and changed by the Lord — my faith is renewed as is my love for my ‘hood! When our pastor, Sandra, started the church, she said she’d had a vision of Bren and I preaching. I immediately balked because I’ve never seen myself in that role, but funnily enough, I’ve always seen that as a possibility for Bren.
Well guess what? Bren and I just preached our very first sermon, together! What an incredible honor and thrill. We taught on the Greatest Commandment (“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”) and while daunting, and at times super divisive — I did storm away from Bren and slammed the door, telling him he was “the worst” — we managed to push through. It’s a short one, just thirty or so minutes. If you’re interested, take a listen below!
